ORGANIZING ASSOCIATE
Saoirse De Mott Grady is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied Economics, Geography, and History. Deeply rooted in the tradition of faith and resistance, Saoirse comes from a lineage of activists – her mother was raised by Catholic Vietnam War resisters, and her parents met while planning an anti-nuclear, “Plowshares,” action at Electric Boat Shipyard in Groton, CT. Growing up, Saoirse attended anti-war protests and actions across the country, from Washington, D.C., to Tacoma, WA, fostering a lifelong commitment to peace and justice.
Her passion for activism continued through an internship at the Tompkins County Workers’ Center in Ithaca, NY, as well as involvement in local causes. During her time at Sarah Lawrence, Saoirse’s education in the social sciences deepened her understanding of the interconnected power systems that perpetuate social inequality and endless war. She also spearheaded hands-on projects focused on food and housing justice in the Bronx.
Saoirse joined the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) in September 2024 as an Administrative Assistant and began her new role as Organizing Associate in March, 2024. In addition to her commitment to social justice, she is a lifelong musician and artist, having pursued creative arts courses from Relief Printmaking to Creative Writing alongside her social science studies. Saoirse sees creativity as one of the many expressions of spiritual life and strives to remain grounded in that sense of purpose as she continues to develop her analytical and organizing skills.
