A dangerous bill is being fast-tracked through Congress to give the Trump administration new and unilateral power to attack nonprofit organizations was successfully blocked. Part of the MAGA and Project 2025 plan to attack democracy and fundamental freedoms, H.R. 9495 would grant the Trump-appointed Secretary of the Treasury the authority to shut down nonprofit organizations by stripping them of their nonprofit status without due process. 

The Trump administration intends to begin by shutting down Palestine solidarity organizations and then other progressive causes like LGBTQ+ rights, environmental justice, and immigration. As a nonprofit organization that has spent the past 109 years advocating against war and hatred, Fellowship of Reconciliation is both worried and angry.
