I invite you to submit an application to join me for an upcoming workshop on the practice and power of active nonviolence for personal and social change!

Facilitated by Creating a Culture of Peace and hosted by FOR, the 17 hour weekend workshop will provide a forum for you to explore violence, practice creative nonviolence, analyze how social change happens, and study ways to create community solidarity.

When: Friday, March 3, 2017, 5:00 PM –  Sunday, March 5, 2017, 6:00 PM

Where: Davis Community Church   412 C Street – Davis, CA 95616

Creating a Culture of Peace (CCP), originally founded at FOR, is a nationwide program for community-based peacemaking. Their innovative spiritually-based approach draws upon your wisdom and experience, liberates your gifts, and builds skills for social change.

This CCP workshop will be co-led by Janet Chisholm, founder and senior trainer of CCP and former executive director of FOR, and Toni McClendon, another veteran CCP lead trainer.

In this weekend long intensive, you will discover your power to make change happen. You will strengthen peacemaking skills and develop practices to apply to your everyday life with your family, in your workplace, school, congregation, environmental and peace groups, and other organizations.

And, as part of the workshop, you will choose and plan your own project for nonviolent action.

Registration is coordinated through a brief online application process to discern level of nonviolence knowledge and experience, to ensure diversity of the workshop participants, and to demonstrate commitment to the program.

The maximum number of participants will be capped at thirty.

A sliding scale registration fee is provided to ensure all can participate no matter what income level. You are invited to give between $20 to $100, to your maximum ability, in order to cover the costs of our trainers.

You can apply for the workshop here through this Eventbrite page and join the pre-workshop conversation on our Facebook Event page.

I’m so excited about this weekend workshop as I know it will be a powerful and empowering experience, and I look forward to sharing that experience with you.
