FOR-USA’s mission is to organize, train, and grow a diverse movement that welcomes all people of conscience to end structures of violence and war, and create peace through the transformative power of nonviolence.
FOR-USA is the U.S. branch of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR) with affiliates in over 50 countries. Since 1915, FOR-USA has carried out programs and educational projects concerned with domestic and international peace and justice and nonviolent alternatives to conflict.
IFOR members have been supportive of the principles found in the charter of the United Nations since before the UN’s founding in 1945. The most notable exception is that IFOR members do not support the UN providing legitimacy to any armed conflict.
IFOR representatives engage in monitoring, advising, providing education, networking and in some instances, lobbying.
FOR-USA leaders and members work tirelessly to improve, if not change, public policy and views to realize an equitable society. We establish numerous cooperative partnerships, often working in coalition with other faith-based advocacy groups, and leading national peace & justice organizations, enabling us to extend our resources and efforts, with the ultimate hope of reaching this goal.
Waging Nonviolence is a platform for leading peace and justice organizations — as well as university research centers — to publish their own independent content.
Fellowship of Reconciliation USA (FOR-USA) is the largest interfaith peace fellowship leading the charge on today’s most pressing human and civil rights issues through advocacy, activism, and educational programs.
