Get to Know FOR's Youth & Militarism Program
The Youth & Militarism program supports youth resistance to militarism by providing resources and guidance to young adult conscientious objectors; offering education and training to strengthen young people’s commitment to nonviolent living and nonviolent direct action as tools for cultural and political change; and coordinating the Nonviolent Youth Collective.
The program addresses multiple issues, including Counter-Recruitment and the Poverty Draft; Conscientious Objection and solidarity building; youth empowerment and leadership development; nonviolence and anti-oppression training; mutual mentorship (intergenerational, multicultural, and interfaith organizing relationships); post-issue activism, and arts activism.
The Youth and Militarism program includes the Not Your Soldier and I Will Not Kill campaigns to support youth lead resistance to the poverty draft, the Peacemaker Training Institute, and the Nonviolent Youth Collective, a network of young adult artists, facilitators and organizers working for social justice, guided by principles of anti-oppression analysis & action, community organizing through art, and spiritual self-care.
