OCCUPYPOPULAR EDUCATION WORKSHOP SERIES

2:00 – 6:00 pm followed by a potluck lunch

*How do we come together* to challenge the lack of affordable housing, the criminalization of poverty, food security, and other critical social issues as well as holding political leaders accountable? How do we provide support to each other?

What is popular education? It is a learning process that:

  • begins with the standpointof the oppressed;
  • is inclusive;
  • is accessible to people ofall educational levels;
  • addresses issues people face in their communities;
  • supports people moving towards action/nonviolent social change;
  • is based on the experiences of those participating in the learning; and
  • integrates non-traditional methods of learning.
