Young, Pacifist and Proud: A Radical Interfaith Revisioning of the World

Current FOR status: Discontinued. This is an archive of FOR’s work from 2008 to 2014.

The Fellowship of Reconciliation invites you to a gathering of young adult faith-based activists and community organizers who want to push the boundaries of Muslim, Jewish, Christian, multiracial and multicultural social movement building for the sake of radical justice. Meet your peers (and a few ally elders), and explore the arts of contemporary nonviolent resistance. Bring your vision, enthusiasm, skills and story. Together, we will learn about the challenges and opportunities occurring in spiritual and faith-based communities working for economic, racial, gender, and environmental justice. What do we need to know about each other to make our organizing more effective? How can we partner with each other in the creation of a better existence?

Come with a friend or ally from your local community or college. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 25 and of any level of practice and belief is welcome!  LGBTQ individuals, people of color, anti-war vets, survivors of deadly conflict, and people who identify as Buddhist, Christian, Indigenous, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and dual heritage are encouraged to apply for this weekend retreat.

The gathering will take place in Nyack, NY February 15-18, 2013 and is for anyone between the ages of 18 and 25.

Cost: $50 covers the entire weekend and financial assistance is available for travel and retreat cost.

Delicious hallal, kosher and vegetarian food will be served.
