Richard May
Richard May, 93, a member of FOR since 2004, died at home in Nyack, NY on July 1, 2011.
May was an urban planner who was Rockland County’s first planning director in the 1950’s. His career included local, regional, and international planning, teaching and advocacy in public affairs. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and Columbia University’s School of Architecture and Planning, a Fulbright Scholar at the London School of Economics, and served in the US Coast Guard in WWII. May is survived by his wife Joan, son Peter, daughter Julie, and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held at the Fellowship of Reconciliation’s national headquarters in the last week of July.
