United For Iran
In this historical moment when Iran is under international pressure for its nuclear program, isn’t it best to be united as Iranians for Iran.
Wouldn't be better, regardless of whom we support; Principlist or Reformist, agree on one thing and that is the fact that Iran needs to be united. But what the Iranian authorities are doing these days does not show their desire for unity.
The sham courts, “confessions”, and recently long sentences for the political prisoners, add to these putting on trial many ofthe well respected ideologues and even some of the most politically prominent people of Iran. These are the people who are well known and are among thetop former officials of the country.
Does this promote unity? Or does this make people angrier and more disappointed. Wouldn’t it be wiser for the authorities to, instead of such excessive show of force, respect the will ofthe people, listen to different voices in the country and work toward resolutions and reconciliation? Wouldn’t such solutions help Iran’s “independence” more?
This is a reality that 14 million people thinkthe election was a fraud. This is a reality that the former and thecurrent high officials in Iran believe the election has been rigged. Thisis a reality that Iranian people have been beaten up and killed during silentand legal demonstrations. The authorities cannot ignore all these, canthey? They cannot pretend that nothing has happened, or even worst, claim that all these are the works and ideas of foreigners.
Wouldn’t it have been better to allow a dialogueamong differing ideologies and thus solve the problem? Wouldn’t that work better for the unity of Iran and Iranians?
it seems the only point that missing these days in Iran is the unity and sovereignty of the country. What happened in Baluchestan last Sunday is one of the obvious reasons for unity. Iran became victim of terrorism again. That shows Iranian authorities must stop this current policy toward the oppositions groups in Iran and start a path toward reconciliation with different groups within the country, including the Green Movement.
