Job Posting: Consulting Editor, Fellowship magazine
The Fellowship of Reconciliation seeks a communications professional to manage the editorial process of its national quarterly magazine, Fellowship, as a part-time consultant for a six-month period. The position has the potential to be extended for another six to 12 months at the conclusion of the original contract.
The right candidate will be a self-starter who is deeply collaborative. She or he will have a working knowledge of the mission and campaigns of the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR), the oldest interfaith peace and justice organization in North America. And with a strong body of writing and editing expertise, she or he will also have proven experience in project management, content creation, image acquisition, and marketing.
The candidate will preferably be based in the New York metropolitan area, as face-to-face meetings with FOR communications and executive staff at FOR’s national headquarters in Nyack, N.Y. are desired. (Exceptional candidates based elsewhere will be considered.)
Fellowship has been published for more than 90 years, as FOR’s signature print product. It is not an organizational newsletter, but a publication that seeks to strengthen the work of active nonviolence by and for the peace and justice movement.
Applications are due December 12, 2012. The tenure of this position is anticipated to run from late December 2012 to late June 2013.
The terms of this contract are to coordinate and manage the production (editorial and layout) process for two issues of Fellowship in March/April and June/July 2013.
Salary is $4,500 per issue. No benefits.
Send resume, three writing samples, and three references to communications@forusa.org. No phone calls, please.
