To the Interfaith Community and Faith Leaders of the New York Metropolitan Area
From the Committee for an Interfaith Convocation as a part of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty events in NYC
Gentlefriends and Colleagues:
We hope this may be an easily navigated primer on the ways you may engage with the work being done within the faith communities of the Greater Tri-State Area to support the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty focus of April 30 to May 2, 2010.
Step Up: Lead
Sign the Petition to President Obama on your own behalf and on behalf of the congregation or community you lead.
Urge the members of your community to also sign the petition and to register for the Conference at Riverside Church on Saturday, May 1.
Attend the Interfaith Convocation or commission a member of your community to participate on your behalf.
Step Out: Connect
Join the Interfaith Convocation in Body or Spirit. Contribute a Banner to the Ribbon being created on behalf of the faith communities.
Come to the NPT Rally and Festival after the Interfaith Convocation on Sunday, May 2. Represent your faith community or commission a delegate to represent you at the Convocation, Rally & Festival.
Step In: Serve
Share the resources gathered to educate us about the threat of nuclear weapons and the call to eliminate them through the Treaty Review and National Policy. Print and distribute these resources to your congregation and community.
Use these worship resources during the month ahead and on the Sunday of the Convocation, Rally and Festival:
- A Litany for Sanity
- A Prayer for Peace
- A Benediction to go into the world and work for a nuclear free future.
