FOR staff on internet radio re: Colombia
This coming Sunday and Monday, the annual Colombia Days of Prayer & Action will be held across North America. FOR is one of a dozen national organizations cosponsoring this year's events.
As momentum builds toward this important international solidarity effort, drawing both faith and secular U.S. communities into deeper relationship with our sisters and brothers in Colombia, staff members of FOR's Latin America program are being interviewed on the challenges facing Colombia by numerous media sources.
Earlier today, FOR Colombia campaign organizer Liza Smith was interviewed on KAOS radio (Portland OR) by Kim Dobbs. We are hopeful that an MP3 audio file of the interview will be posted in the next couple days on the station's website — if and when it is, you'll be able to access it here.
Later this afternoon, John Lindsay-Poland, co-director of FOR's TFLAC office, will be interviewed on KSFR 101.1-FM (Santa Fe NM). The program is "The Journey Home" with host Diego Mulligan, and it will be webcast live on the internet, starting at 4:05 p.m. PT (7:05 p.m. ET).
Tomorrow (Friday), both John and Liza are scheduled for additional interviews. John will appear on the Jeff Farias show live webcast (Phoenix AZ) at 4:30 p.m. PT (7:30 p.m. ET). Liza is scheduled to appear on a Northern California-based Spanish-language program, with host Marcos Gutierrez at 12:00 noon PT, broadcast live on both KIQI (1010-AM, in San Francisco) and KATD (990-AM, in Sacramento).
Each of these programs will address the massive humanitarian crisis in Colombia and the interconnections between U.S. military aid to Colombia & the Colombia-U.S. drug trade. (We're also hopeful that Amy Goodman and "Democracy Now!" will discuss this topic this coming Monday morning — so you may hear FOR's name on that important national radio program. So listen up!)
Whether or not you are able to listen to one of these programs live or later on the internet ("on demand") over the next few days, we strongly urge you to join FOR this coming Monday as we help mobilize thousands of people for the national Day of Action. We'll be asking FOR supporters to contact President Obama to break from the tired militaristic policies of the past and forge a new relationship wi
