A confession by my friend, an assault weapon owner

What happened on December 14th in Newtown, Connecticut, has shocked us all. I have read many articles and heard many commentaries since that day about the great need to do something about guns in the United States. My friend Matt Cole has written a reflection that stands out as an especially powerful testimony on the subject, and I wanted to share it with my friends in the Fellowship of Reconciliation.
Matt lives in my neighborhood in Wilmette, Illinois, and he and I are occasional contributors to a blog titled DEMOCRACYINACTION. His excellent article is titled “An Assault Weapon Owner’s Embarrassing Confession.”
Ed McManus served as chairperson of the National Council of the Fellowship of Reconciliation from 2004 to 2008. He is an active member of the Chicago FOR local chapter.
