Video: UN Secretary-General speaking on the threat of nuclear weapons
Watch the FOR video of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon speaking to a group of peace activities from around the world. The secretary-general told the crowd that they and other people would them would be the means of the world’s nuclear stockpile being dismantled. The UN leader encouraged peace workers to continue to speak boldly and clearly to politicians and to hold politicians accountable for their actions or inactions. Ban Ki-moon noted that politicians pay lip service to the cause of peace, but the threat of nuclear destruction is so grave that much more than lip service is needed. The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is reviewed for compliance and expansion once every five years. That review is underway now at the United Nations and continues over the next few days.
